American Airlines Secured victory in the Ninth Circuit when the appellate court denied an appeal in an age-discrimination case brought by more than 600 flight attendants seeking US$260 million in alleged damages.

Chubb Served as lead counsel of a joint defense group in a victorious bench trial. The court rejected efforts by policyholders to saddle insurers with massive liability for pollution in Los Angeles Harbor caused by pesticide manufacturing.

David Dubin Achieved victory in Dubin v. United States , a case in which the US Supreme Court adopted a narrow view of what constitutes identity theft in the context of health care fraud.

Duke University and Allergan Won a patent-infringement trial involving eyelash-growth drug Latisse. Our team taught jurors enough organic chemistry to make an informed decision without feeling overwhelmed, securing a US$39 million verdict.

Hyundai Motor America and Kia America Representing the automakers in Attorney General investigations of allegations that certain models lacked sufficient anti-theft technology making them “dangerously easy to steal.”

Alaska Airlines Counseled Alaska on its pending US$1.9 billion acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines. The purchase would allow Alaska to enlarge its strong West Coast network, expand its presence in one of the world’s tourist hot spots, and gain access to Asia.

B. Riley Securities Represented the middle market investment bank as sole bookrunner in an underwritten public offering of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (Nasdaq: BBBY) Series A convertible preferred stock and warrants.

Galatyn Asset Management Represented a Galatyn Asset Management-led consortium of family offices and financial institutions in its US$2 billion acquisition of PureWest Energy, the largest natural gas producer in Wyoming.

Hippocratic AI (a/k/a HealthGPT) Advised the developer of an AI-driven health care information and support service on its US$61 million seed financing. Hippocratic AI’s goal is to use language models to increase health care access, reduce costs, and close the health care skills gap left behind by the pandemic.

Liberty Media Counseled Liberty Media on merging a business unit that controls a majority stake in SiriusXM with the rest of the radio company to create a new publicly listed firm with a simplified ownership structure.

Samsung Advised Samsung Display on its US$218 million acquisition of US- listed eMagin, a microdisplay developer. The deal enhances Samsung’s offerings in the AR/ VR space.
